Would this method be useful for eyeshadow as well? I guess since you don't put the product directly on your iris, it takes out the colour addition (or overlapping?) factor...

i have dark features on lighter skin and i've never realised the role CONTRAST plays in how makeup looks! not to mention colour theory within that contrast discipline! i really gotta play around with my makeup more to find a look that really works harmoniously for my features hahahah thank you so much for the tips!

I think many of us would love if you did a follow up with some suggestions from comments bc many of us want this look! I think it’s worth trying not covering the freckles at all. I don’t have freckles (I love them) but it seems like having them show a little is actually showing that they were covered (and not effortless?). Also the most effortless lipstick colors on me are semi matte versions of my own lip color but my lips are naturally pigmented so idk 😂

As someone who identifies as Goth/ classy on rare occasions, I doubt I would uses any shades that aren't a deep burgundy.

Every time I try a pink lip color, no matter what shade, it turns bright, electric fuchsia pink on me. Not good! Love the soft dusty pink in the tube. Ugly on me 😢

Byredo eyeshadow palettes may be different but they look ugly. Maybe it looks different when you apply them but just from looking at the website they’re ugly.

I stopped wearing concealer under my eyes this spring as well! I have super dark circles, and it just looked so unnatural. I think just skin tons does a better job tbh

Wow, that was absolutely amazing. I'm a yearbook teacher and I frequently SKIP doing a color theory refresher for my students (because yearbook teachers are usually English teachers not art teachers), buuuuuut I think this is such a cool way to integrate color theory AND Photoshop-ish software in a digestible way. Also, I'm going to go buy my perfect "red" lipstick because the reds I have are the same as what you were talking about-very not effortless-and I never thought of trying this before. I have been using a teeeeeny bit of the Dior star glow under my eyes for a bit of brightening and no concealer and I love it so much. Feels more youthful, more me, less heavy. Etc ❤

I tried the baume essentialle (transparent) on naked 72 yr old undereyes and it just highlighted my purple and blue veins and shadows. Guess it is not the technique for me.

I think the Patrick Ta highlighter is a yawn. It just seems like it is trying to capitalize on the popularity of the blush. It is nothing special.

I was SO JAZZED for the Patrick Ta highlights and picked up 3 the day they launched because I assumed they would be the same formula as the blush duos and those are perfection (in my opinion), so why would we mess with a good thing? Wrong. The formula is totally different. The ingredients list on the cream highlight is all coconut as castor oil. Essentially a cleansing balm. And we are going to dab that on over a dusty glittery duochrome powder and let it just coagulate and form some sort of gooey highlighter gravy on our cheeks? It stays greasy, gummy, gunky, never sets down so it creases up around the eyes, and removes concealer underneath. And on a hot day - forget it. That will be melting down your cheeks like buttery tears. I love the Chanel baume essential because it's slick but not gummy and it doesn't separate, but this gooey gunky mess of a cream highlight in the Patrick Ta duo is as primitive as vaseline kids makeup from the discount section at the dollar store the day after Halloween. The biggest disappointment of the year thus far.
